International Summer Academy of Baroque Dance

Training future generations

What do you do when you can’t find an inspiring place for developing your skills? Create one! The International Summer Academy of Baroque Dance was born in 2014 out of my own needs as a baroque dancer. Over time it became a place of reference to baroque dancers from all over the world.

150 students from 25 countries joined us for six years at Löftadalen Conservatory. A Summer Academy that since its creation became a must for any motivated baroque dancer in search of excellence.

The International Summer Academy of Baroque Dance in a nutshell:

  • A clear focus on movement quality and body awareness

  • A summer academy conceptualised by dancers for dancers
  • Morning warm-ups and afternoon stretches to keep the body fresh throughout the week

  • Main baroque dance classes at four different levels with the Feuillet notated repertoire or contemporary baroque dance choreographies
  • Optional afternoon courses open to all students present for the chosen week

  • A welcoming and friendly atmosphere promoting the exchange of ideas and experiences

Löftadalen delivers! So much fun and so useful!

Highly artistic work at an appropriate pace.

The development of baroque dance needs this academy.

Thank you for everything, great work! Please continue! 🙂

Exceptionally well conducted, a perfect mixture of technique, choreography and expression. A lot of support and good feedback!

Overwhelming! I bring back not only a better technique but also a totally new approach to the character and interpretation of dance.

A truly wonderful week of experimentation and growth. A nurturing and open environment with dancers from all over the world in an idyllic setting. What more could you ask for?

After this week of dancing and moving, the body feels fresh still and the mind open and inspired. Thank you! And until next year!!
