Handel's opera Radamisto was ordered for the opening of Royal Academy of Music in London in 1719. The famous dancing master L'Abbé was asked to engage dancers and create choreographies for the festive premiere, but the production was postponed and finally the new opera house was inaugurated by Porta's Numitore. When Radamisto premiered a few months later, the dance music and the dancing were left out.

The original festive version of Radamisto, with dancing, was staged at Badisches Staatstheater in Karlsruhe in February 2009 and 2010.
