Don Juan with Compagnie l’Eventail in Bordeaux and Karlsruhe

On 17 and 23 February Karin will be substituting in Don Juan with Compagnie l’Eventail, at the opera of Bordeaux and at the Händel festival at Badisches Staatstheater in Karlsruhe.

Kärlek med förhinder [Prevented love], pantomime ballet by Ivo Cramér

Karin’s company Stockholm Baroque Dancers has been granted a residency by the Halland Region in summer 2012. The pantomime ballet Kärlek med förhinder by Ivo Cramér will be rehearssed in Varberg and then performed on tour in the western and southern part of Sweden.
Noverre ballets with Compagnie l’Eventail in Paris, December 2012

In December 2012 Karin will be dancing with Compagnie l’Eventail in Jason et Médée and Renaud et Armide, two new ballets created by Marie-Geneviève Massé with inspiration from Jean-Georges Noverre. Hervé Niquet will conduct his orchestra Concert Spirituel, playing the music by Rodolphe and de la Borde. The première will be on 15 December at the opera of Versailles, and later in December it will also be performed at Opéra Comique in Paris.
Amadigi di Gaula, Händel opera in Göttingen in May 2012

Karin Modigh will be dancing with Sigrid T’Hooft’s company Corpo Barocco in the opera production of the international Händel festival in Göttingen, 18-28 May 2012. Amadigi di Gaula will be directed and choreographed by Sigrid T’Hooft, and conducted by Andrew Parrott.

Baroque dance classes in Stockholm

Karin Modigh and Saga Mellin will be teaching open trial classes at the Dance Museum during four Saturdays at 14h, starting on 25 February 2012.
Karin will also be teaching a weekend workshop on medium and advanced level at University College of Dance on 24-25 March.
Publication from the Noverre conference in Paris

21-23 October 2010, Karin Modigh and Irène Ginger participated in a research conference at Paris-Sorbonne on Jean-Georges Noverre (1727-1810). Their presentation, Une dernière tentative d’emploi : le dossier de candidature au roi de Suède en 1791, has now been published in the conference proceedings, Revue Musicorum no 10.

L’Egisto at Théâtre de l’Athénée in Paris 19-23 October 2011

In October Karin was substituting in the opera production of l’Egisto by Marco Marazzoli and Vergilio Mazzocchi at Théâtre de l’Athénée in Paris. L’Egisto was first performed in 1646 and is now presented by Fondation Royaumont, with musical direction by Jérôme Correas, stage direction by Jean-Denis Monory, and choreography by Françoise Denieau.

Don Juan at Drottningholm, highly praised by critics and audiences

12-14 August Karin participated with her company Stockholm Baroque Dancers and French Compagnie l’Eventail in a guest dance appearance at Drottningholms Slottsteater. Les Petits Riens and Don Juan, choreographed by Marie-Geneviève Massé to music by Mozart and Gluck, were performed in cooperation with Drottningholms Slottsteater, and with funding by the Carina Ari Memorial Foundation.
Acclaims for Niobe at Boston Early Music Festival

The operatic centerpiece of Boston Early Music Festival, Niobe, Regina di Tebe by Giuseppe Steffani, got an exceptionally good reception from audience and critics during the performances in June 2011. Karin Modigh was featured dancer with the new Boston Early Music Festival Dance Ensemble, performing choregraphies by Caroline Copeland and Carlos Fittante in a staging by Gilbert Blin. Performances took place in Boston and the Berkshires 12-25 June 2011.
