Choreographer

‘Through her dance, Karin Modigh reveals a 17th century which feels both far and near.’
Love and the Courtesan 2013

The stylized dance, which took the silence as its point of departure and then created a rhythmical counterpoint to the music, was one of the highlights of the performance, challenging the audience’s sense of artistic synthesis.

‘Above all, it’s a fabulous production with actors moving simultaneously in a mix of stylized baroque dance and contemporary performance art. The text is presented with a creative movement choreography and a high level of performance by everyone involved.’
The Misanthrope 2016

Karin’s work as a choreographer comprises collaborations with Michaela Granit/Östgötateatern (The Misanthrope 2016), Nomodaco/Umeå14 (The City 2014), Operabyrån/Vadstena Academy (Love and the Courtesan 2013), Suzanne Persson/Completely Baroque (Henry and the Magic Passacaglia 2010), Les Paladins/Stockholm Early Music Festival (Pygmalion and Anacréon 2007), the Swedish Royal Dramatic Theatre (Valpen 2007), and her own company Nordic Baroque Dancers (Queen Christina – roles in dance and movement 2015). In 2010, she created a solo performance, Le Visage Humain, on suites by Robert de Visée, in collaboration with lutenist Magnus Andersson.

Both as a dancer and choreographer, she has a penchant for dance theatre, taking her general starting point from baroque or renaissance movement material.
